I just don’t want to be known as Felisia Hill the City Commissioner, unless I can AS Felisia Hill the ambassador of Pahokee and Belle Glade..and of course you know we love Football go #bluedevils.

Thanks for reading and sharing and commenting on my blogs. This is new to me but it has been interesting.

Sports is a big focus in Pahokee. The list below gives you an indication of just how much.

It’s remarkable how many professional football players came out of the “Muck.”

Pahokee was incorporated in 1922.[10] The name “Pahokee” means ‘grassy waters’ in the Creek language.[11] Local residents refer to Pahokee as “The Muck”, which refers to the mineral-rich dark soil in which sugar canecitrus fruits, and corn are grown by agribusinesses. In the 1930s, it was known as the “Winter Vegetable Capital of the World”.[9]

The city was severely affected, as were the other communities to the south of the lake, by the 1928 Okeechobee hurricane.[12]
